 ABOUT CHARLIE

Charlie Turner is a UK-based songwriter specialising in musical theatre, with a diverse catalogue that also spans pop, rock, country and beyond. She collaborates with a wide range of artists and is a writer for the new record label Westway Music, creating original material for some of the West End’s most celebrated stars.

In 2023, her song Battlefield—recorded by Kerry Ellis featuring Sir Brian May—launched as the lead single from Ellis’s album Kings and Queens. The track received national and international radio play, including features on Magic FM and BBC Radio 2’s Elaine Paige on Sunday.

Charlie’s debut musical Gretel! (book by Liv Warden) premiered in 2019 at The Other Palace Studio with a sold-out run. Following significant redevelopment, the reimagined show—then titled The Clockwatcher—was selected for the Overture programme in 2023, culminating in an industry showcase at The Other Palace. It is currently in development with MAST Mayflower Studios, Southampton.

Most recently, Turner and Warden’s new musical Lightning Boy, directed by Kate Golledge, made its world premiere in 2025 as part of National Youth Music Theatre’s season at Birmingham Hippodrome (Patrick Studio).

Charlie’s work has been performed at prestigious West End venues including the Adelphi Theatre and the Lyric Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue. She is a member of Mercury Musical Developments’ Advanced Writers Lab 1, working alongside some of the UK’s leading musical theatre voices.

Beyond theatre, Charlie has collaborated with artists including X Factor winner Shayne Ward, Grammy Award-winner Rob Davis, and hitmakers Pam Sheyne and Tim Fraser. Her songs have been recorded in world-class studios including Abbey Road Studio 2, The Pool Studios, and The Umbrella Rooms.
